What are the diiferent types of Music magazines ?


Pop magazines:

Pop music magazines tend to use bright colours for example, Billboard. Pop magazines have a stereotypical female audience and statistic say Pop magazines are bought more by girls and stereotypically bright colours appeal to girls which they entail. They usually embody simple fonts like Arial but they also use bold text with large font size. Gossip is normal in Pop magazines especially for a female audience. The gossip is normally relating to young popular artists who are always in the media. The term pop is shortened from 'popular' showing its popularity. Their is a wide range of the type of music the pace in pop music is normally fast with a melody. Pop songs tend tyo change your mood it is very happpy music. The target audience for pop music typically ranges from 10 to 25. Most likely to be young people pop songs are aimed at teens and young females.

 


 
 
Rock Magazines:

Rock magazines are usually dull and macabre with dark colours with red font. Fonts used are normally bizarre and animalistic. Content In the magazine would be very detailed because Rock fans are very outgoing and loud.
The Main attraction of the magazine would not necessarily be a popular or a mainstream .

The target audience for Rock music normally ranges from 16 - 25. There is a balance between rock's gender preference. Possible of slightly more males listening to rock because it typically violent music.

 








  Indie Magazines:

Indie magazines are increasingly becoming popular amongst teens and the younger generation. Indie magazines are very simple with basic large mastheads. The main attraction would normally be the current bands and musicians with the public’s attention.  They are easily noticed on shelves. Images are normally abstract which is normal because indie are independent and lie to be different. Colours are normally dark but more subtle compared to rock magazines.
The target audience for Rock music normally ranges from 16 - 25. There is a balance between rock's gender preference. Possible of slightly more males listening to rock because it typically violent music.
 

 


Dance Magazine:

Dance magazines are typical full of bright colours and typically very happy colours like blue and pink. The colours reflect happiness which is normally connoted by dancing. The colours reflect club lights. Puffs are key in a dance magazine along with graphic images of celebrity gossip. The main image is likely to be a young popular woman in the music industry. Dance magazines are cluttered which is ironic to the packed clubs people dance in. The masthead is normally bright and bold to attract. Dance's target audience ranges between 16 - 25. The genre is based on younger generations who are lively and energetic.

I liked all of these magazines because of the layout. All of these magazines are relaxed but very detailed and attractive. Each of these magazines have similar layouts all of them are focused on the main image.

I am making magazine towards my AS level advancing my knowledge and skill in media. I will be annotating magazines, creating magazines, and analysing aspects of music media.

Typical music magazine consists of tour dates for its genre artists, interviews, and previews of new upcoming artists, lists of songs, photo-shoots, record reviews and concert reviews. They vary in genres depending on what

There are different types of music magazines varying on genres for example; XXL, Q, and Rolling stone magazines are generally for Hip Hop. Renowned rock magazines are Mojo and Kerrang. Music magazines are published by the music press who dedicate their work to music related content.

On the market are a vast range of music magazines offering different things to their target audience.
